Thrifty Artist Heaven
Three of our favorite kinds of stores are thrift shops, art stores and science supply stores. The Scrap Exchange is kind of like having all three in one! When you walk in, it looks like a totally artistic mess! Tons and tons of different kinds of art supplies, old bits of this and that, office supplies, old magazines and cards and photos, parts and pieces of this, that and the other fill the various rooms of the store. You will find yourself mesmerized as you sift through bins and baskets and shelves of anything you can imagine – building your art project as you sort. It is a lot of fun!
We spent nearly an hour there browsing every bin, wishing we had a project we were working on. In the end, we only picked up an old retro game but went home with lots of ideas for art projects we could do or things we could build. Across the parking lot is their thrift shop. This one is totally a thrift shop – clothes, books, media, household goods, etc. They definitely specialize in the vintage-esque as opposed to straight up Goodwill style and their book area is pretty great. It definitely makes our list of spots to always revisit!
