Triangle Area – North Carolina
Our first real stop in Raleigh was one of the most important – dessert at Goodberry’s! This is hand’s down – our FAVORITE frozen custard spot in the whole country. And we hadn’t been back in ten years. Was it as good as we remembered? YES!! It was just as creamy and delicious as ever with the same walk-up style stand plus seating and a fountain. They even still had our classic sundae options on the menu! Plus some new ones! Our personal favorites are: Tin Roof (greenie), Sandstorm (doublec) and Mint to Be (dymaxion) – enjoy!
Tips:
- They always have vanilla custard, chocolate custard and one daily special that changes every day. Check the calendar taped up to the window for the daily special (and future ones if you’re thinking about planning your next frozen custard already)
- Get napkins – you’ll need them. The tables are grated, so anything that drips will go straight down to your shorts. You will be sticky when you leave.
- Is the sun out? You will probably be hot. There are a few umbrellas and some trees. Scope your spot according to the weather. Earlier on weekdays is the least crowded. School out? Expect a crowd. That being said – there are also a few strip mall locations that have a different set-up / vibe – we personally prefer the atmosphere at the stand-alone locations.
